About the Project
Relishing Goa’s susegad, this home’s saga celebrates friendship and transformation, each serendipitously bound to the other. The clients merged their parcels of land to create a handsomely sized villa with a pool and landscaped pockets. The remodel’s primary objective was adaptive reuse, converting the villa’s premises, which was an erstwhile science museum, into residential quarters.
The villa’s master blueprint was sliced open, and the basement opened to the great outdoors, creating arches as portals and alcoves to lend pockets of the home rejuvenated function.
The doors open into a large living area exhibiting a reworked layout. Here, indigo, ochre, and umber tones coalesce seamlessly, painting an image of the sea and sand — a love letter to the land of Goa. The elevated lounge overlooks the verdant landscape through the archetypal, Portuguese-style windows. While the dining area is straight out of a vintage Goan painting, its interplay of wood, cane, and metal evokes a milieu from an era bygone. Within the pitched roof’s soaring volumes, the bedrooms embody repose, their curation intentional and playful in its ode to Goa.
