About the Project
Having called numerous zip codes across Singapore and India their home, this sports presenter-entrepreneur couple’s home feels like a serendipitous homecoming. Their shared love for travel and a desire to meld their distinct heritage into the narrative honed the home’s creative brief — a meld of modern and Balinese impulses.
A double-height granite feature wall heightens the home’s core. The dining and kitchen, situated at the mezzanine level, engage in an interplay of volumes, harbouring a crossover between traditional and modern details. An unconventional addition, the tea room was an erstwhile lounge. A custom gilt-edged cabinet with burnt orange shelving became the muse, accenting the greys, wood tones, and cane elements.
The bedroom’s Balinese-inspired palette fosters a serene ambience. Its stucco walls and furnishings celebrate the maxim of ‘less is more’. In the bathroom, a rattan false ceiling, strategically positioned skylight, and tropical plants combine to paint the image of alfresco showers on sunny islands.
